When the Wi-Fi Fails & Faith Gets Real
John 15:5 | Psalm 46:10 | Matthew 11:28
The other night our Wi-Fi went down right in the middle of a family movie. My kids lost their minds. I’ll be honest—I wasn’t far behind them. My plans for a quiet, easy evening suddenly felt hijacked by a blinking red router light.
I started pacing, trying every trick I knew. Meanwhile, my wife just smiled and said, “Guess we’re unplugged tonight.”
We ended up sitting around the kitchen table playing Uno, laughing until one of us cried (it was me). It hit me later... this tiny interruption was actually an invitation. God was showing me something about control.
We live in a world where everything depends on connection: Wi-Fi, social media, work emails. But how often do I forget the one connection that actually sustains me, the one with my Father?
Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). That verse hit different that night. I spend so much time trying to stay connected to everything but Him.
Sometimes, the Wi-Fi goes out because God wants the worship to come on. He wants us to remember that presence beats productivity every time.
So next time the router fails or life feels offline, maybe it’s not a disruption. Maybe it’s an invitation to slow down, laugh with your family, and reconnect with the only Source that never drops the signal.
